Mouse Loves Love is an animal fantasy picture book by Lauren Thompson with illustrations by Bucket Erdogan. This story is about a mouse that follows his sister around while she makes a Valentine card for him. Mouse secretly watches as his sister gathers ribbon, paper, lace, and other craft supplies and turns it all into a card for him. This book would be best used for storytelling followed by a small activity since it is aimed for young students.

emilypalkovich This link shows several different ways for students to make their own Valentine's Day card like Mouse's sister did: https://kidsactivitiesblog.com/118125/simple-homemade-valentine/. An appropriate UDL guideline for this book is to provide Expression and Communication. This is important for young students and can be done through the activity. An EL strategy for this story would be number 44. focus on thinking skills; predict and observe. 3y
emilypalkovich This can be done by having students predict what Mouse's sister is doing with all the supplies she is gathering.

This adorable book would be considered animal fiction because it features animal characters who talk and behave like humans. The book is about a mouse named Minka who is crafting a gift for her little sister. The little sister has no clue what Minka is making for her. At the very end, the craft is a lace heart shaped note that says “I love you.”

olivia_danko This Animal Fantasy would be best taught using UDL 1.1 (community artifacts) by making a lesson plan to make their own heart shaped note for a loved one at home. And 9.3 (develop self-assessment and reflection)
The ELS strategy I‘d use is EL 46 use discovery learning activities(hands-on-activities) giving students the chance to make their own heart shaped note.

DrSpalding Your pictures made me smile! This is your best post of the three being that you followed the rubric well here! Revise the others to be sure you are including all necessary elements according to the rubric. 3y
AlexRobinson What a cute book!! I‘d read this often in my preschool classroom! And your picture is too cute! Great UDL and EL strategies! I especially like your EL tool. Doing hands on is such an amazing way for NS as well as EL to learn more about a topic and make a visual representation of what the text is all about! Great ideas as well as resources!! 3y

This cute picture book would be perfect for IR on Valentines Day! This short story is about a mouse “Minka” sneaking off to gather various materials to create something special. Her little brother “Mouse” is very curious & follows her to find out what Valentines Day surprise she is crafting together. This RF book would best be taught using UDL principles 2.1(Clarify vocabulary & symbols) & 9.3(develop self-assessment & reflection)

Vanvlieta & ELS strategies 5(check frequently for understanding)& 6(check for word/sentence recognition) https://www.google.com/amp/s/avazapp.com/blog/the-many-benefits-of-independent-r... #UCFLAE3414SP21

Chaseb I love how creative you got with the picture! Very cute! 3y
Vanvlieta @Chaseb thank you!🥰 3y
DrSpalding You won this one. Explain your helpful resources a bit more. While you can certainly have this as an independent read, reading aloud this book during the holiday/holiday week, in your classroom would be a good idea too.❤️ (edited) 3y

DrSpalding This could be an independent read or a cute short read aloud around the holidays. Seek out picture books related to holidays that you can easily and naturally incorporate into your curriculum throughout the year. 3y
