DrSpalding This used to be an option for book clubs in my class. It is a wonderful book and I agree that it would be a great book to include in your classroom library for students to independently read or even use as a book club option. All of the characters are so different and unique. Studying characterization would be a wise move. Helpful resource. 4y

This HF, Pulitzer Prize winner IR book is a classic read. This book is set in 1930s in the Southern United States. Following Scout Finch, you‘ll meet her brother Jim and their father Atticus. Atticus is a lawyer and is going to represent a black man. This book flows over three years and we watch Scout and Jen grow up and learn the outcome of Atticus‘ case.

While this is not appropriate for the elementary grades, you are earning a reading endorsement that can allow you to teach middle and high school.
