Az 1848-49-es szabadságharcot megnyertük, és megvalósult Kossuth Lajos nagy álma, a Dunai Konföderáció!
Kossuth Csaba – Kossuth Lajos unokája –, fiatal lovastiszt feladatot kap a hadügyi államtitkártól, hogy juttasson el egy bizalmas iratot a Konföderáció fővárosába, Belgrádba. A vonatot azonban szerb szeparatisták támadják meg, és az iratok eltűnnek, a helyszínen csupán egy pikk király marad. Ezalatt a fiumei Buda-Ganz gyárból egy rejtélyes feketeköpenyes alak elköti a Konföderáció legújabb titkos fejlesztését, egy hadi szivarhajót, és útnak indítja Belgrád felé. Kossuth Csaba egy szépséges kémnővel ered a titokzatos és mindenre elszánt idegen nyomába, akinek célja nem kevesebb, mint a Konföderáció elpusztítása függetlenül attól, hogy ez hány emberéletet követel.

What if Hungary had won the 1848-49 war of independence and a confederation had been formed with other European countries along the Danube?

The characters may be a little two dimensional in this piece of alt historical fiction, but the setting, the plot full of twists, and the witty details more than make up for them.

(1) After quite a bit of thinking, I'll go with
- Huck & Jim, in The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn,
- Lizzie & Charlotte, in Pride and Prejudice,
- the fox and the Little Prince
(2) I used to read only one book at a time, but since I joined the #PemberLittens and #ThatsClassic, I regularly juggle with 2-3 books, and manage surprisingly well!
