I went to a Romance Con at my local library, and Janna MacGregor was there (along with many cool authors AND Julia Quinn!). I bought this trilogy from Janna herself, and almost immediately started the first one. It‘s predictable, but in the best way. It‘s a very fluffy, fun escape.

The prequel short story had such potential. I liked the all of characters here, the writing was good, and MacGregor didn‘t use any weird euphemisms - all pluses to me. Unfortunately, I was bored through almost the entire thing. I kept waiting for something to happen. There was no real sense of urgency, little conflict, and no reason to fear for the HEA. I have a digital ARC of book two. I hope it is more engaging. 😔

With its wild premise, easy-to-root for main characters, fascinating set of secondary characters, easy pace that kept the story moving, and low-angst conflict, A Duke In Time gives Janna MacGregor‘s new The Widow Rules series a promising start. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was between a pick/so-so for me. I found the premise original, but the writing was a bit over-the-top and I never connected well with the characters. This is a 1st in series from an author I hadn‘t read.
Katherine discovers that her dead husband was also married to two other women. His half-brother Christian, a war hero and a duke steps in to make amends and of course, love ensues. I think my main issue was an overall “sappiness”. 3/5⭐️

This regency romance was warm and witty with a feminist viewpoint. I love the way this book made consent and women's rights an integral part of the storyline which supported the romance in an affirming way.
