Gratitude Diaries: How a Year Looking on the Bright Side Can Transform Your Life
Gratitude Diaries: How a Year Looking on the Bright Side Can Transform Your Life | Janice Kaplan
8 posts | 12 read | 9 to read
In this "New York Times" bestseller, Janice Kaplan spends a year living gratefully and transforms her marriage, family life, work and health. Her pioneering reseach was praised in "People "and" Vanity Fair "and hailed on TV shows including "Today, The O Reilly Factor, " and CBS s "The Talk." On New Year s Eve, journalist and former Parade Editor-in-Chief Janice Kaplan makes a promise to be grateful and look on the bright side of whatever happens. She realizes that how she feels over the next months will have less to do with the events that occur than her own attitude and perspective. Getting advice at every turn from psychologists, academics, doctors, and philosophers, she brings readers on a smart and witty journey to discover the value of appreciating what you have. Relying on both amusing personal experiences and extensive research, Kaplan explores how gratitude can transform every aspect of life including marriage and friendship, money and ambition, and health and fitness. She learns how appreciating your spouse changes the neurons of your brain and why saying thanks helps CEOs succeed. Through extensive interviews with experts and lively conversations with real people including celebrities like Matt Damon, Daniel Craig, and Jerry Seinfeld, Kaplan discovers the role of gratitude in everything from our sense of fulfillment to our children s happiness. With warmth, humor, and appealing insight, Janice s journey will empower readers to think positively and start living their own best year ever."

#KindnessandPositivityWeek #Day3 #RandomActofKibdness

Late this afternoon I was running an errand with my son & ran into an elderly man in the parking lot. He said to me something like,”oh no, I left my mask home. You don‘t happen to have an extra one, do you?” In fact I did because I always have extras with me. He was so grateful when I gave him one. Something unexpected that demanded so little of me, but felt good.

Nice to read this, especially while the Covid 19 pandemic is still affecting our lives. Gratitude is something we can all use to get through these days. I liked reading about the author‘s year-long project and I hope to incorporate some of her ideas into my own life.

So much good information in this one! I listened to the audiobook, which was read by the author. She did a great job narrating, but this is one of those, "I need to highlight this part so I can find it again," sort of books. I may end up getting a written edition for myself that I can mark up. I will definitely be applying what I learned in this book to my life as I gear up for 2017!

Still reading Gratitude Diaries bit by bit...#somethingforsept #librarylove @RealLifeReading Eldridge Public Library, Chatham, MA. Beautiful shape, red stone, grounds. All stately, warm, wood inside. Where I love to go ! My sister wrote both my parents eulogies in its warm, comfortable, quiet.
