Great idea @ljuliel!

The gift of reading was the best gift I ever got. Suddenly I could get answers to all those questions in my mind, I could learn new things, go to places all over the universe,...
I read all day, it's like breathing. I have to read for a few sentences every night, no matter how exhausted I am. I read the back of tea/cheese/... packages when there's nothing else around. Once I had to wait in the car w/o a book, so I read the 👇

julesG car's "owner's manual". I cannot go a day without reading. Honestly. I had an inflammation of my optical nerve (three times so far), each time I went blind in one eye for a few days, the doctors said I shouldn't strain the "good" eye by reading. I tried not to read, worst hour of my life. Truly. Not a joke. 1d

Deifio Thank god for audiobooks! Now if it ever happens again @julesG you can pick up an audiobook! 1d
julesG @Deifio Right. That's something to look forward to. Back when it happened, I was still very much reading physical copies only. 1d
ljuliel Jules , your comments made me happy 😊 then sad 😢. Your story about reading the car manual was funny. As for your eye issues, I‘m so sorry that happened. It must be awful , but I‘m so glad we live in a world where audiobooks are so easy to access now. They help bring reading to a lot of people who otherwise couldn‘t experience it. 1d
julesG @ljuliel Don't worry. Luckily the inflammation was spotted early on, steroid treatment took care of them, and after a few days I could see again without any problems. I still have full visibility in both eyes, although I need prescription glasses to battle my short-sightedness. 😉 1d
ljuliel That‘s good. It sounds like you‘re in excellent hands for medical issues. It helps to have a good Dr you can trust , plus medication to counteract some of your symptoms. 1d
Josilas123 Reading takes me away from this world into a different dimension and also it helped me battle some of my bad habits!!! I‘m glad you eye is in a better shape but I recommend constant checkup from hence. Thanks for the share. 1d
julesG @Josilas123 Thanks! Trust me. I'm seeing my doctors once a month. That's the (dis)advantage of having a chronic issue. 😉 24h
Josilas123 @julesG 😄 that‘s so true. You are welcome. 23h

Mehso-so

A nonfiction piece by the former First Lady. I love the point she makes about learning through every thing you do, but much of what she says feels dated and elitist. She talks about how to train your servants and things like that, which obviously is not applicable to most people. Good read, but take it with a grain of salt.

Loved this one!

I'm sure I'll revisit it again when I need a pick-me-up.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️There are days when you want it be be a beautiful day in the neighbourhood. It was one of those days for me and this new collection of thoughts, quotes, and insights from Mr. Rogers put a smile on my face and in my heart. This is a quick read but provides all of the feel good moments that Mr. Rogers brought to the world. A great mood lifter.

I suppose this quote is more about writing than the “desk” in today‘s prompt but I think it will do in a pinch. I love Natalie Goldberg & her books on writing. 💜

This book just made me smile. Keep it next to your bed and read a little pep talk when you wake up and when you go to bed. You won't regret it.
