I love Madeira deeply, so I didn't think twice and bought this book. Had I taken one single moment to take a closer look, I could've stopped myself. Because then I would've realised, that the author isn't Portuguese at all. He's not even living on Madeira, only went there for a couple of visits... Of course he cannot bring the atmosphere on this island to life. He tries. But he fails. Had this book taken place in Germany, it wouldn't have been â¬‡

Jari-chan a problem at all. But Madeira is not Hamburg. Sorry.

The author fails even more with his characters. A character doesn't have to be nice, to be interesting. But here everyone is just a pale cut-out. They're all annoying. The MC the most. She's nothing but a brat, that self-diagnosed herself with a burn-out. Having gone through two burn-outs, I couldn't continue reading.
