My version of blue ling in mustard cream sauce (blálanga í sinnepssósu), p 95 of the cookbook, with new potatoes. Very nice, and a lot less scary than some of the other recipes in the book 😁

Ruthiella Yum! 😋 3w
Texreader I was googling recipes and yea, scary is a good word for it. 3w
Catsandbooks Looks great! 🇮🇸 3w
Dilara @Texreader In the tagged book, the recipes run the gamut from 70s anglo retro (lamb in a curry sauce made w/ tinned pineapple chunks & 2 teaspoons of curry powder 😱) to safe North-European fare to dishes that are very much out of my comfort zone (fermented skate) or use unobtainable ingredients (flamed puffin breasts). Main dishes involve strong-flavoured seabirds, lamb/mutton or fish, so not for everyone. All the dessert recipes sound nice tho 3w

A fantastic book on the food history and culture of Iceland. I just wish the recipes were more detailed.

BookishMarginalia That looks great! 3y
Dilara It is! And I didn't know it before reaching page 43 today , but July 17th is Iceland‘s national holiday ! Celebrated with coffee and cake, and barbecues. 3y
