A man is killed, his widow allows her silence to be bought, and the POVs of 6 people intertwine until all is revealed. It sounds like it should be great but it was just ok. On to the next.

The story - told they several points of view and timelines - keeps you strung along wondering what really happened, how, why, and what now. A heavy topic, lightly told with mystery, suspense, romance, intrigue. It was a quick and enjoyable read.
This debut novel by Susan Walter pulls you right in and keeps you turning the pages. It's very well written and you truly like the characters. The descriptions are very well done and the execution of the story is great.
It definitely starts off with a promise. A promise to take care of everything. If you keep quiet. If you don't tell. If you can just move on and accept what happened. Holly and her daughter, Savannah, have their worlds torn apart.
I an in two minds with this one. On the one hand, I liked the plot & I really wanted to know what was going to happen next, but on the other hand, the characters were drawn rather thinly & I didn't feel as if I was connecting with them at all. The twists of the plot were not a surprise, but I did think it was a decent read. 3⭐
