#WinterGamesPhotoChallenge #Day8 #Wildlife This has to be one of my favourite children‘s books. Men Fox is an Aussie national treasure, not only does she write beautiful books she‘s also a specialist in child literature & has made campaigns for better reading in schools. And her possums are adorable! #WinterGames #TeamEvergreen 6pts

Horrendous photo but.... there are few things I need to send people who have babies but Possum Magic (and a glossary of Aussie recipes), is one.

Home for a funeral and trying to achieve all the things I‘ve let slip while I‘ve been overseas. It‘s chaos but I have two copies of Possum Magic here and they‘re heading to Poland and Germany. Spreading the possum love around the world!!! ♥️♥️♥️

MrsMalaprop 😍😍😍 (Sorry a funeral bought you home). 5y

Pickpick

Anything by Mem Fox is amazing. She addresses fun themes through unique characters. Her works are all wonderful read together stories, but the illustrations offer children lots of opportunities to create their own story line.

Is this a beloved children‘s book in Australia? Because the illustrations and story are really lovely so I‘m wondering if this is like Where the Wild Things Are (or something else you find nostalgic) for Americans. Just curious and since I don‘t know a lot of people who have lived in Australia, please feel free to add your opinion if you have one!

Mamashep My son received it as a gift from friends in Australia so it well may be. 6y
Smrloomis @Mamashep interesting! The illustrations are just beautiful in this one. 6y
echalpan American elementary school teacher here, and I love Mem Fox‘s books! Koala Lou is one my students always love. 6y

Abby2 Men Fox is an amazing children‘s author. She is Australian but her books are common in school libraries and know wirldwide 6y
Smrloomis @echalpan Thanks for letting me know! I will also have to see if I can find more of her books. 6y
Smrloomis @Abby2 Thanks! I am not very knowledgeable about children‘s lit so it‘s hard for me to tell what‘s popular elsewhere. Good to know. 6y
Blaire Yes we have several of her books! Both my children liked this one as toddlers. 6y
Smrloomis @Blaire Thanks! Stacked! 🙌🏽 6y
Gillyreads Yes, Mem Fox is probably one of our most popular children‘s authors. She even was put on a stamp last year! Possum Magic is one of her classics. 6y
Smrloomis @Gillyreads Thanks! I will have to image search the stamp 😂 6y
BooknerdsLife Yes! My girl loved this book since she was a toddler when she read it in kindergarten and still loves it as a teenager! It‘s a children‘s classics here in Australia 🤗💖 So happy to see that it‘s loved in other country too🥰 6y
Smrloomis @BooknerdsLife Since we are now in the UAE I am not sure what is popular elsewhere (other than in the US I mean) so it‘s nice to discover her. Now I‘m on the look out for more from her! 6y
BooknerdsLife @Smrloomis TBH I‘ve never thought that anyone outside Australia would have heard about this book 😅 so this is a very nice surprise 😊 6y
Smrloomis @BooknerdsLife Excellent. I will definitely drop it in future conversations to show how well-read I am 😉 Seriously though I borrow from a private library here that is volunteer run and with so many expats, I imagine some previous volunteer or member knew it. 🙌🏽 6y
