This is truly a very strange book, which is not necessarily a bad thing. It felt like the Addams family (although the Addams family is somehow far more functional) meets a steampunk fairytale. I think it would make a fun cartoon. The writing style was not my absolute favourite, it was rather simplistic and had a vibe I didn‘t quite get on with.

Pickpick

The premise sounded interesting and the book really delivered for me. It leaves you wanting a second one to see more of the family as they deal with what they now know. The plot is quite quick and I read this in a couple of days. The ending was good and I loved the twist though I had guessed some of it. I like Cassie and Raphael, they're good characters and this focuses really well on their close friendship. #ReadersFirst 4*

I don‘t read all that much fantasy or kind of fairytale novels but this was a refreshing take on the genre.
It‘s the turn of the century and one night in the midst of a storm something is blown through the window of Cassie‘s bedroom.
Instantly she feels a connection to this being and tries her hardest to take care of it.
Though around this same time her best friend Raphael starts acting strange.
Slowly he is transforming into something special.
