“They All Are Tell.“

Shortly after finishing Schillers “Wilhelm Tell“, #NetgalleyDE informed me about the new book by Joachim B. Schmidt, coming in spring 2022: a retelling of Wilhelm Tell.
Did I think twice? No. Did I immediately apply for the ARC? Yes.

Did I like the book? No.

I loved it.

This is a darker, more realistic version of who Tell could've been. What could've happened back then. Here Tell is no hero. But he's a man. A man we ⬇

Jari-chan all could've lived next door to. Or still can. He's human. He's got flaws.

And as known from Schmidt the landscape's important, too. It's not just there to be nice and Switzerland-y. It's a character. Just as important as Tell. Because it's the landscape that shaped him. Him and all the others.

What a great end of the year highlight ❤
