Oof. Okay, my fault for picking this up thinking it would be as much travelogue as memoir, and both parts light-hearted bordering on schmaltzy in tone. As much as we do get stories of journeys, moments in the desert, this is definitely the author figuring out her life, looking at her choices and experiences and linking back to what appears to be an intermittently unhappy childhood and a subconsciously troubled young adulthood. 1/?
She definitely makes a number of decisions that risk-averse yours truly winced at, and I do wish for her sake that certain moments that led to dramatic changes in her life did not have to happen, even if she is content with her life now. 1mo
