Day 24 of a book from my shelves with random thoughts - This is one of the earliest Henry books I was given - before I started writing in them, apparently! It's been years since I read this so I can't remember it very well, but it is (similar to King of the Wind) a mixture of fact & legend telling the story of the founding horse of the Morgan breed. An underdog tale & loads of Dennis's perfect illustrations - this is another one due for a reread!

TheAromaofBooks @PaperbackPirate - it's been a really long time since I read this one, so I can't remember the story much at all, other than that the horse was kind of runty but turned out to be really strong haha 5y

Mem-ries!.....look what I found at the used bookstore. A heart warming blast from my past when I was so young and horse crazy. I had most Marguerite Henry books and some horse figurines to match them. Read it again and it is still good even now. A horse with a Black Beauty-esque life and there are beautiful narrations throughout. Will keep for reading to another horse lover some time.

Suet624 The Morgan Horse Farm is in Vermont and it's really fun to go there. Many Vermonters have Morgans. 8y

SaraFair @Suet624-Oh! Have never seen one, but the descriptions in the book make me want to. Have driven through Vermont and it is gorgeous. Hope to go back some day. 8y
