She's Gone | David Bell

A new page-turning thriller from USA Today bestselling author David Bell. When a girl disappears, who do you suspect? When 17-year-old Hunter Gifford wakes in the hospital on the night of homecoming, he's shocked to learn he and his girlfriend, Chloe Summers, have been in a terrible car accident. Hunter has no memory of the crash, and his shock turns to horror when he is told Chloe's blood has been found in the car--but she has disappeared.Back at school, his fellow students taunt him, and his former best friend starts making a true-crime documentary about the case--one that points the finger directly at Hunter. And just when things can't get any worse, Chloe's mother stands in front of the entire town at a candlelight vigil and accuses Hunter of murder.Under mounting pressure from the police, Hunter takes matters into his own hands by questioning anyone who might know the truth and posting videos to prove his innocence. When Hunter learns he and Chloe were seen arguing loudly outside the dance, he faces a sickening possibility. Was he angry enough to kill the person he loved?Praise for David Bell: David Bell is a top-notch storyteller and Layover is his best book yet. I flew through this twisty, riveting psychological thriller at breakneck speed, hooked from the first page right up through the book's breathless conclusion.--Cristina Alger, New York Times bestselling author of Girls Like UsWith hints of Patricia Highsmith's THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY, this is a riveting thriller. --Palm Beach Daily NewsReaders will find themselves thoroughly immersed in this riveting thriller...both compelling and surprising.--BooklistBell is a brilliant craftsman as well as storyteller.--The Providence Journal

Happy Fall everyone! 🍁🎃🌻 Yes, I‘m reading at the beach still because we‘re still getting 70 degree weather in Central Cali. This book I started, is perfect to start in the first days of fall because what the story is about, takes place in October and it‘s a mystery. I can NOT put down. I will be finishing it tonight. About a teenager who‘s in a car accident with his girlfriend and wakes up after and she‘s missing. So good #fallbooks #beachreads

4⭐This was a super quick engaging listen that I finished in a day. My only qualm was how the author was always beating around the bush, so to speak, with most of the reveals, like I just wanted to tell them to spit it out, already. In real life, people don't dance around the truth like that, not if they are really wanting to tell you something. Eddie Lopez was killing it with his narration.

Starting this one. I was at B&N yesterday and picked it up. It was a $5 deal with coffee.

ShelleyBooksie A book and coffee for $5 - score!!! There are no B and N in my area 1y
Slajaunie I don‘t have one in my town. We have to drive an hour to either New Orleans or Baton Rouge. We were in NO to bring my son to the airport so, of course, I made my husband take me. @ShelleyBooksie 1y
ShelleyBooksie NO and Baton Rouge are both places I dream of visiting. 1y

2nd of 5 new books achieved
Must search for the truth! Sounds exciting, although I fear the cover and summary may be overselling it with this one; I really have no idea what to expect.

Great YA thriller about Hunter and girlfriend, Chloe who suffer an accident the night of Homecoming; it leaves Hunter with a concussion and amnesia as well as a girlfriend who‘s gone missing. Clever humor and plenty of twists and turns that kept me guessing until the bitter end!
