I just gave mine away which reminded me I hadn‘t reviewed it. A memoir on parenting in general and parenting while/after transitioning. I thought it well-written & accessible to cis people, but I was a bit put off by some of the distancing from the wider queer/trans spectrum. But much respect to her for living as who she was in the ‘00s. Also contains an interview with her wife, & essays by various famous friends on their own parents/parenting.

akaGingerK I was also put off by the flirting with cheating that happens after repeatedly praising her wife and their now platonic marriage. No discussion of being open nor poly, just maybe considering sleeping with a man because he‘s available and she‘s curious. 🫤 3y

Boylan is a good writer, funny and insightful. She has another memoir that details her transition from male to female. This book focuses specifically on her experience as a parent and explores questions of what role gender plays in parenting. Intermingled with her own story are several brief interviews with other parents about their experiences parenting and being parented. A quick, interesting read that I'll be discussing with my PFLAG book club.
