Idk how I got so many professional Christians in my TBR, but I did. I grew up with this POV, & it doesn‘t have much to offer me at this point. Having said that, the speech patterns are comforting, & Moore talks like more progressive (but not all that progressive) members of family. This book was a pleasant use of my time.

The only thing I knew about Beth Moore before listening to this audiobook was that she wrote several Bible studies.

I'm not even sure I've ever done one of her studies 🤔

Hearing her difficult, messy, knotted up story was a pleasure and encouragement.

I don't usually read memoirs, but I will make exceptions if I know about the author or the book is highly recommended. Both apply to this book. I've heard about Beth Moore for most of my life, I think I've even read a few of her books. However, I didn't know much about her life. This book must have been difficult to write. It gave us a raw look at everything she has been. It was well-written, never got to be too heavy.

I have loved Beth Moore for over 20 years. This is her memoir and it is so raw, powerful and honest. I see so much of who I used to be in her and how much we change as we age. We don‘t always see through the same lens as we did in our early days of marriage and raising kids. She speaks about the patriarchal hypocrisy in the church very honestly. We need to support women that speak out against abuse. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book started out slow; I almost didn't continue reading it. I'm not sure yet if I'm glad I did though I did appreciate the author's vulnerability and honesty.
