Are You Dave Gorman? | Danny Wallace, Dave Gorman
4 posts | 7 read | 2 to read
'A magnificent tale of obsession and adventure' The Independent After a heavy night of tequila, flatmates Dave and Danny set off on what turns out to be a 24,000-mile journey to meet all the other Dave Gormans in the world. They visit Scotland, Israel, America, France and Ireland. They even hold a party in London where 50 Dave Gormans attend, including two women who have kindly changed their name via deed-poll. Silly, but engrossing, fascinating and addictive - and a touching, funny story of two friends who grow to share a mutual obsession. 'A warm, funny, life-enhancing book' The Guardian The average Dave Gorman is 37, 5'6" and works in the financial sector. Our Dave Gorman is 29, is a Perrier Award-nominated comedian and writer. His TV work has earned him two BAFTAs for The Mrs Merton Show as well as his own BBC2 series. Danny Wallace is a writer, producer and award-winning journalist, whose work has appeared in numerous newspapers and magazines including The Guardian, The Independent and Melody Maker.

Pickpick

Books do not get more fun than this! In response to a drunken bet with his friend Danny Wallace, British comedian Dave Gorman--along with Wallace--traveled the world to meet 58 strangers by the name of Dave Gorman. The result is this hysterical collaboration between the two, a book that is reminiscent of Tony Hawks's Round Ireland With a Fridge.

Mehso-so

I've been reading this on my phone on lunch breaks and while I wait for my daughter's bus, which probably hasn't helped. It may be the kind of book you have to read in one or two gulps. The premise is cool - two drunks make a bet about how many people named Dave Gorman they can or cannot meet - but the execution does start to drag a bit. The stage show of the same name would have been hilarious but the book is merely funny in places.

Day16 of #augustofpages and my choice for #authorcollab is Dave Gorman and Danny Wallace. A few years ago, a drunken wager led the former to travel the world seeking out namesakes. I remember really enjoying their shared narration of events! #bookphotochallenge

BarbaraJean Ooh, good pick! I'd forgotten this one! I remember their back-and-forth narration being very amusing. 8y
