Mehso-so

2⭐️ I loved Moon Tiger so much that I expected a similar quality with this one, but I‘m left disappointed. This is a story about Stella Brentwood, a retired anthropologist who settled down at Somerset. My problem is the structure of the novel; the back and forths between past and present are so awkward, and what‘s with the Hiscox family story line? 😭 I hope I have better luck next time with Penelope Lively

BarbaraBB So disappointing! I loved Moon Tiger too 14mo
CarolynM Interesting. I‘ve enjoyed the 3 I‘ve read, I haven‘t read this one. I‘ve been warned!😆 14mo

Thanks for all the litsy birthday wishes! I found this one on a leftover reads shelf in a hotel. I think it might be my first by the author and I will definitely read more. Great writing and characters. Perfect birthday - books, sun and sea :-)

Ruthiella I‘ve only read two Penelope Lively books but they were both fantastic: According to Mark and 2y
jhod @Ruthiella moon tiger is on my radar because of the booker win, but I will definitely seek her out more now! This one was a perfect character study of an independent retired woman, loved it 2y
