Excellent addition to the other books in the series. It has a lot going on and the love story of Violet and Xaden. Also much more.
If you enjoy fantasy you should read this series. The ending blew me away. Now the wait begins for the next book.....

Julies_Bookshelf_Adventures @LMJenkins I actually have a lot of mixed feelings about it. I hate what Xaden was going through the entire novel. The fact that he went past the point of no return to save Sgaeyl…It was so in-character and heartbreaking. Violet annoyed me in this one. She seemed extra slow on the uptake and kinda dense in parts. Andarna made me cry. I so want there to be a happy ending for Xaden‘s sake. 18h

Julies_Bookshelf_Adventures I really enjoyed seeing the different isles but also found it to be a bit pointless in the grand scheme of the novel. Don‘t get me wrong, fleshing out the world and all the different countries was great……I just don‘t know about how long the buildup to actually going was worth it. Finding out about Andarna was fantastic too, and I both love and hate the rollercoaster of emotions involved in it. 18h

5feet.of.fury @Julies_Bookshelf_Adventures agree about the isles. They find the irids, who refuse to help bc Xaden is “an abomination” and then they all of a sudden show up later and fire the wards…. the temple and stuff was needed but some of it seemed so random. 8h

My least favourite of the series initially, I found it a slog until the last 100 pages, where SHIT WENT DOWN.

LOVED it!
I could nitpick (some language gets repetitive, at times there‘s more telling instead of showing) but the romance, the action, everyone growing as characters, the quest was all so good. & It took a moment to poke at the fans & so-called inconsistencies, which was fun for me.

As always Yarros totally nails the ending. I‘m torn between needing more & hoping we take a long enough break that it‘s worth me re-reading & overthinking lmao

Did I stay up until 3:00am just to order the Target special edition of Onyx Storm even though I already had the deluxe edition? Yes. Yes, I did! 🤭💕

Okay, so the main difference for the outside is that the Target edition has a different image on the page edges, has gold letters for the title, and is overall more metallic looking!

Just finished. I loved this book. I think i will reread it more slowly and i have a lot of questions… but some of my suspicions were accurate and so maybe more will be. I was supposed to be at the author talk tuesday- my SIL video taped most of it for me since i had a family emergency and could not go- and her talk was so much fun to watch! I am curious about what the target edition looks like…

Butterfinger @Chrissyreadit I find myself getting so anxious about Violet not telling her squad, her best friends, about the venin. Knowing what happens, I am more nervous during the second reading. I'm at the part where the squad is enduring the torture "course". 3d

BAIL ❌ This kind of writing is exhausting. So much telling with little showing. So basic. A line of dialogue followed by, essentially, stage directions. Over and over for eternity. Once this clicked in my brain, it couldn‘t be undone. And I feel like this could take place anywhere just add some cool creatures; a severe lack of world building. I was quickly reminded of why I rated Iron Flame only 3 stars. After 8 chapters, I‘m out.

I don‘t see that happening w/o Xaden, unless Sygeal‘s link to Tairn is somehow part of his link to Vi, so if Sygeal breaks the bond like Andarna did, Vi‘s feels lose intensity and then she falls for Aetos. 2d

julesG Reminds me of that time I had to be on a heart monitor all day (in hospital) for my first time on new medication and I read an exciting book. Since my HR spiked instead of dropping the nurses were just amusing themselves and asked how spicy it got. 6d

julesG I don't remember which exactly. It was 7+ years ago. But certainly a spicy romance since I remember that I'd specifically put a few "light reads" on the kindle. Funny wasn't an option, because shared room. Same reason for any drama/horror/... . The only other option would have been non-fiction, but then my BP and HR might have dropped for real. 6d
