Disaster at the Vendome Theater
Disaster at the Vendome Theater | M. L. Longworth
1 post | 2 read
Calamity befalls the little Vendome Theater in the tenth installment of the sun- and wine-soaked Provençal Mystery Series. Provençal Mystery Series #10 Watch the series! Murder in Provence is now on Britbox. When Jean-Marc Sauvet, successful lawyer and the best friend of Aix-en-Provence’s examining magistrate Antoine Verlaque, accepted a small role in a local theater’s summer production of Marcel Pagnol’s Cigalon, he had no idea that the lead actress would be played by the great Liliane Poncet. But Jean-Marc’s excitement about rubbing elbows with one of France’s legendary film stars is quickly extinguished. The lead actor, Gauthier Lesage, is rude and unenthusiastic, and nobody understands how he got the part. Chaos reigns backstage thanks to the absentminded theater director. And everyone seems to be harboring a secret. When one of the actors goes missing for good, it’s up to the soon-to-be-a-father Verlaque and his police commissioner, Bruno Paulik, to untangle the threads of a mystery that seems to get more complicated every day…

There was less about Aix-en-Provence in this instalment than is usual for this series, but I enjoyed it anyway. An interesting mystery and some developments in the lives of the characters.

Crazeedi Is the series good? I have read Martin Walkers series set in France, it's good 2mo
Crazeedi And I see it's on britbox! 2mo
CarolynM @Crazeedi I like the series a lot, mainly because the way they go about their business feels very French (although I know it‘s written by an American who lives there) & it has some great tidbits about Aix which I always enjoy. I can‘t quite bring myself to watch the TV version - I want the characters to be French not English! Also why I can‘t bring myself to watch the Three Pines adaptation. I‘ve read one of the Walkers, will read more one day… 2mo
Crazeedi @CarolynM very true about the shows , I'll definitely check out this series 2mo
