Such a cute book about a giant helping out his town! It was a great read!
“Gently he laid the fish back in the river and watched as it swim away. Was it a lighter shade of red now?”
This book would be a great one for teachers to have. It could be added to a classroom library for St. Patrick's Day, or for a unit on Ireland or on fairytales from other countries. The story could also be a good starting point for discussion about making quick judgments about individuals and the effects of stereotyping.
Finn McCool is the largest giant in all of Ireland. He's a fierce warrior, and helpful and kind. Even with all his
strength, courage, and goodness, he is just not smart. When a wise man living in a nearby village tells Finn about a magical red salmon with the wisdom of the world, Finn sets out to catch the fish and learns a thing or two about himself in the process.
