pickI have mixed feelings about this book. It was character-driven, mostly slow-paced, the suspense was very different from what I imagined it might be. It has a very melancholy feel; it reminded me of the short story “The Gift of the Magi” when I turned the last page. I think maybe it was the right book at the wrong time for me.
pickA perfect Hitchcockian nightmare (tho Fritz Lang directed the adaptation), set in the darkest days of the Blitz & written while the bombs were still falling. Dunno how he did it. I can't even write when the kids are yelling in the next room.#2015top5
