Rereading this found fiction anthology for the #Scarathlon. A lot of the stories are pretty interesting in their technique.

I love found footage horror stories, as they are a form of the epistolary novel. There are quite few gems in this collection in structure and atmosphere.

Found Footage is one of my favorite horror movie categories, they are a natural evolution of the long tradition of epistolary horror fiction that stretches back to Frankenstein & Dracula. So, when I saw this anthology, co-edited by Gabino Iglesias, I naturally was immediately intrigued. Like most story collections, there are highs & lows. For me the highs are Fred Fischer's “Junk Pickup“ (a box of unlabeled VHS tapes leads to unsettling

vivastory discoveries), Joe Butler's “The Ghost Town Adventures“ (the technical details on this one were so meticulous & well-done that I actually felt like I was watching the video being described), Kurt Fawver's “Accidents, Of a Sort“ (Crash investigator looks for meaning of life behind random chaos, might regret it), Alan Baxter's “Novak Roadhouse Massacre“ (a murder spree in Australia might be more complicated than thought, cleverly constructed from 2y

vivastory different POVs) & Angela Sylvaine's “The Veiled Lady“ (this short piece had me immediately jumping on google afterwards). This anthology was a bit like watching the first V/H/S movie. A little bit of everything. 2y

Reggie Blair Witch is one of my favorite movies to have on in the background while doing stuff no matter how annoying Heather gets. 2y
