Rorschach | Tom King

Rorschach is back. Whoever he is. It's been 35 years since Ozymandias dropped a giant interdimensional squid on New York City, killing thousands and destroying the public's trust in heroes once and for all. And since that time, one figure in a fedora, mask, and trench coat has become a divisive cultural icon. So what does it mean when Rorschach reappears as an assassin trying to kill a candidate running against President Robert Redford? Who is the man behind the mask, and why is he acting this way? It's up to one detective to uncover the true identity of this would-be killer--and it will take him into a web of conspiracies involving alien invasions, disgraced do-gooders, mystic visions, and yes, comic books. Writer Tom King joins forces with artist Jorge Forns for a new miniseries that explores the mythic qualities of one of the most compelling characters from the bestselling graphic novel of all time, Watchmen. Collects Rorschach #1-12.

106/100 I finished this a couple of days ago, but forgot to post a review. If you like dark stories, full of deception, violence, and government conspiracies, this is the graphic novel for you. Tom King always finds new ways to look at a character, and here Rorschach is more an idea than a person. I liked the artwork, it matched the story's dark and gritty nature. 4/5 ⭐ #Read2025 #SeriesLove2025

This is a pretty intriguing political thriller that might honestly be better if it had no connection to Watchmen at all. It's very contemporary in its exploration of conspiracy thinking, even as it has a retro feel with landlines, tape recorders, and Columbo references.

Ruthiella I ❤️ Colombo! 🕵️‍♀️ “Just one more thing…” 3y

Along with HBO's Watchmen and Doomsday Clock, Tom King's Rorschach is another entry in the genre of Watchmen sequel/spinoff. King uses the tropes of detective fiction to explore the nature of conspiracy thinking.
