I'm enjoying that the character, Weber is more weaved into this second book...he is the police detective that Riley is consulting for.

08/100 Imagine Star Trek filtered through Douglas Adams, with a splash of Gilbert & Sullivan, an a huge dollop of the misunderstanding tropes from Three's Company. That's what this book was, the worst kind of slapstick silliness, it even has a pie fight between the Federation and the Klingons!! Amazing that this tripe comes from an author as good as John M. Ford. 2 ⭐⭐

2025 Re-Read:
18-year-old Chloe Emery unexpectedly returns home from her father's house. Inside the house is covered in blood & the cat has been confined to one room for several days but is otherwise OK. Chloe's mother meanwhile is nowhere to be seen but no-one can survive losing that much blood. Newly promoted DS Maeve Kerrigan is one of those investigating the case, & soon learns that the missing woman, Kate Emery, had made a lot of enemies.
This was a fun sports #Romance #audiobook narrated in duet. 🌶️
I had to rewind one particular part twice because I just couldn't believe narrator Connor Crais pronounced a certain German philosopher's name properly. 😉

Horowitz is writing the last book with Hawthorne, based on a case Hawthorne worked several years earlier - a man was murdered in a wealthy neighborhood, everyone had a motive. Hawthorne was working with a man named Dudley as his sidekick, who Horowitz replaced in a way. The mystery and the side story of Horowitz and Hawthorne are good, as always. ⬇️
