An odd sort of book, not what I expected from the blurb. The protagonist, Jack, spends his summer between trying to solve riddle, and sleeping with the women in the house he‘s staying at. His attitude to sex brought to mind Henry Miller‘s Tropic novels.

It‘s set in Cley, where I‘m getting married 13 weeks today, which makes it #APlaceYouLove #FictionalTraveller @julieclair

TheEllieMo I‘ve also found out, after finishing it, that the author was the son of actor Rex Harrison (of My Fair Lady and Doctor Doolittle, amongst many other roles), and died at the age of 80 in January of this year. 12h

A very soft pick for me. Henry has taken the romans tropes and played around with them a bit, but ultimately, it‘s still an enemies-to-lovers story. It‘s well-written, with character development, but apparently I only enjoy romances in December. And I‘m also a bit of a prude ‘cos I don‘t like the spicy bits!

5⭐️ I watched the whole trail of Alex Murdaugh when it was on CourtTV. I was happy to find this book on the LibbyApp and read it. It brought into the whole crazy story the history of the Murdaugh Family. The first part of the book was about Alex's great-great-grandfather and how he opened the law firm in 1920. It showed how the Murdaugh's have always thought they were above the law. It was like it was ingrained into them. I think this is ⬇️

MonicaLoves2Read is an excellent book. If you were intrigued by the case, this is a most read. It is well-written and well researched. All True Crime fans should read it.

😊 Happy Reading 😊 #TrueCrime #Nonfiction #Read2025 ##Bookspinbingo

19/100 Green Arrow has always been one of my favorite superheroes, much more interesting than Marvel's Hawkeye. Green Arrow's origin story was pretty much the same, but updated and streamline. Queen was still the reckless, alcoholic playboy, he still ended up on the desert island with the drug runners, it's just more gritty and violent than earlier versions of his origin. 3.75/5

It is the 6th book of this series, and it doesn't disappoint. There is a lot of page turning action. Another bingo spot #ISpyBingoFeb #SeriesLove25 #Read2025 @TheAromaofBooks @TheSpineView @Andrew65 @DieAReader

Another book from the Holiday in Heart Falls series. This one was a lot better than the last one. The characters were better and loved the little girl Talia. #SeriesLove25 #Read2025 @DieAReader @Andrew65 @TheSpineView

I think I bought this because of the cover; I definitely started reading it because of a Goodreads challenge, and realised it‘s not a genre I normally read. I wasn‘t sure I‘d like it, but I‘m pleased to say I loved it. Lots of “wait, what, so he…? And she….?”!

18/100 I'm not sure what possesses me to read this, it's not my usual kind of material. Graphically violent and bloody, it's the story of the men of the Rath family. From father to son, they passed down their legacy of violence and death, until there were none left. I've seen Ron Garney's art on Captain American & Thor, but this was much grittier, verging on Frank Miller's style on Sin City. 3 ⭐⭐⭐💫

Finished a few days ago, the 4th book from the #AuldLangSpine list of @JacqMac & another really good one that‘s on the dark side. (I‘m sensing a pattern… 😱😂 but I like it!) It‘s also my 3rd pick for February‘s #Roll100 (#42 Any Mystery-although it‘s more dystopian horror thriller than mystery). Bizarre & very brutal murders start happening in every state & a few days later the killers start to mobilize & start reading the names of ⬇️

DebinHawaii …those to be killed on the Emergency Broadcast System. Told from the POV of the husband & father, a family goes in the run when complete madness seems to have taken over. That madness seems to be related to an aurora borealis event that affected those that watched with this urge to kill. It‘s very brutal (if you can‘t read about graphic murders this isn‘t your book) & somewhat disjointed, but that adds to the tension & thrills. ⬇️ (edited) 5d
DebinHawaii … Timing also adds to the chills as with the way the US is currently, it actually feels slightly & uncomfortably plausible. I‘ve somehow only read Dark Matters by Crouch & this is one of his early books, rereleased I think. It‘s not perfect but it certainly kept me tensely reading (& comforting myself with chocolate) & I liked the thrills. (edited) 5d
monalyisha I approve of comfort by chocolate! 5d
