A beautiful historical novel about Vincent Van Gogh‘s sister-in-law‘s efforts to get his work the recognition it deserved. What an impressive, strong woman she was!

Interesting fact-based story about the sister-in-law of famous artist Vincent Van Gogh, but the contemporary storyline that was supposed to complement it was cliche and predictable.
I‘ve never heard of Johanna Bonger, sister in law to Vincent Van Gogh. I admire her dedication to her family, and the steps that she took to ensure Van Gogh was recognized. I also liked our modern day protagonist, Emsley. She was equally resilient. I am glad that my bookclub selected this novel, otherwise I would have missed out on a great story. I am looking forward to our upcoming conversation with the author.
A heartbreaking account of the widow of Theo Van Gogh and her struggle to honor him and bring his brother's art into the world's eye. This is offset by a modern day time line that lightens the mood. I enjoyed it.
