Maybe flash fiction just isn't my thing? These were so short and yet, somehow, they couldn't hold my attention. I literally read the whole book this morning and not a single story stuck with me through listening to my son talk about video games for 10 minutes after I finished it and before posting this review. I couldn't tell you anything about it. (But apparently my kid is almost done getting the sword he wants in Armored Core.)

Definitely a collection outside of my normal reading box, however I found these short stories to be extremely interesting. Flash fiction is a new genre for me and it has provoked my interest enough to seek out further collections going into 2024. Quite a few of these were really engaging for me, and I look forward to digging deeper into this style of writing and reading.

I know Williams is supposedly the queen of flash fiction, but her work just isn't for me. I didn't connect with any of the stories- in fact, I'm not entirely sure I understood most of them! It's not often I leave a fiction book feeling stupid, but that's where I'm at with this one. I just didn't get it.

The stories range from one sentence to four pages in length and cover every day human interactions. It's a short book, but not one I enjoyed.

AmandaBlaze Flash fiction is hit or miss with me. I‘m reading a flash fic Halloween anthology for the #scarathlon. Most resort to gore for immediate effect. There are a few gems in there, though. 2y
