Lion's Legacy
Lion's Legacy | L. C. Rosen
2 posts | 2 read | 3 to read
Tennessee Russo is having a really bad day. He found out his boyfriend has been cheating on him and his estranged father, Henry, shows up out of the blue acting like nothing is wrong. A famous reality show archeologist, Henry wants Tennessee to join him as he searches for the rings of the Sacred Band of Thebes. The Sacred Band of Thebes was a fearsome army comprised of 150 gay couples in ancient Greece. Can Tennessee pass up the chance to show the world that not only have queer people been here forever, but that they were respected, and they were formidable?

Lion‘s Legacy, by L.C. Rosen (2023)
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Premise: Fresh off a breakup that puts him in a difficult social position, a teenager reunites with his estranged tv archaeologist father to find a piece of ancient queer history.

Review: This is a queer YA Indiana Jones, with all the fun puzzles and booby-traps and ridiculous ‘archaeology‘—and teenage drama—you‘d expect from it. Cont.

Mattsbookaday As long as you turn your brain off and enjoy the ride, there‘s a great story here and some important reflections on the erasure of queer history.
