The Beautiful Ashes
The Beautiful Ashes | Jeaniene Frost
7 posts | 28 read | 7 to read
In a world of shadows, anything is possible. Except escaping your fate. Ever since she was a child, Ivy has been gripped by visions of strange realms just beyond her own. But when her sister goes missing, Ivy discovers the truth is far worse-her hallucinations are real, and her sister is trapped in a parallel realm. And the one person who believes her is the dangerously attractive guy who's bound by an ancient legacy to betray her. Adrian might have turned his back on those who raised him, but that doesn't mean he can change his fate... no matter how strong a pull he feels toward Ivy. Together they search for the powerful relic that can save her sister, but Adrian knows what Ivy doesn't: that every step brings Ivy closer to the truth about her own destiny, and a war that could doom the world. Sooner or later, it will be Ivy on one side and Adrian on the other. And nothing but ashes in between... .

Great setup and chemistry between the leads that never quite did it for me. The hero is fated to betray the heroine, who is destined to save humanity from demons. They don‘t want to fall in love but can‘t resist each other. Action packed by somehow still bland. However, I was hooked enough to read the sequel.

Trying to finish this one up. I have not had a lot of time with the end of school. Got lesson plans done for the rest of the school year now. Yay me! Time for reading!

Interesting premise on an old religious story. I'm curious to see where this ends up. I'll definitely pick up the next book.

I loved Frost's Night Huntress and Night Prince series, so I expected a lot from this new one. It was good but not great. I liked Ivy and Adrian, but their relationship was pretty formulaic. I'm not quite sure I'll keep reading the series.

I love this author so much but this book was banal and almost unreadable. How I got through this one is a testimony to my perseverance in the face of adversity.
