JEEVES & WOOSTER
JEEVES & WOOSTER | P. G. Wodehouse
1 post
This eBook has been formatted to the highest digital standards and adjusted for readability on all devices. Jeeves & Wooster Series follows the adventures of Bertram "Bertie" Wilberforce Wooster, a wealthy and idle young Londoner, and his highly competent valet Reginald Jeeves. A young English gentleman and one of the "idle rich", Bertie frequently appears alongside his valet, Jeeves, whose intelligence manages to save Bertie or one of his friends from numerous awkward situations. As the first-person narrator of ten novels and over 30 short stories, Bertie Wooster ranks as one of the most vivid comic creations in popular literature. Jeeves presents the ideal image of the gentleman, being highly competent, dignified, and respectful. Incredibly knowledgeable about topics ranging from horse racing to history, Jeeves has an encyclopedic knowledge of literature and academic subjects. He frequently quotes from Shakespeare and the romantic poets. Well informed about members of the British aristocracy thanks to the club book of the Junior Ganymede Club, he also seems to have a considerable number of useful connections among various servants. Jeeves uses his knowledge and connections to solve problems inconspicuously. I‘ve been looking for the bag that contained these since you posted the quote from Joy in the Morning @TheAromaofBooks !

In my apartment (years and years ago) I had a plain white fridge that became an “art” project - a collage of magnets, notes, postcards, and a Bertie quote! I just love Wodehouse‘s way of phrasing things ❤️😂

TheAromaofBooks That is a FABULOUS quote!!! And honestly way too relatable right now haha 2y
mabell @TheAromaofBooks Isn‘t it?! 😂 I‘m sorry about the relatability! (But I hear you on that!) 2y
TheAromaofBooks Now when things go wrong, I just tell myself that I won't be stuck in this tureen forever! 😂 2y

mabell @TheAromaofBooks I love that!! 😂😂 2y
mabell @TheAromaofBooks A side note - I was wondering if your sister just prefers books on her list for now? Or would she also like a “mixed bag” box of books? I know staying with your parents, she may not have the space or desire for something like that, so understandable if not! 2y
TheAromaofBooks Thank you so much for asking!!!! I am sure she would definitely be down for a mixed bag, especially since you have very similar reading tastes to us 😂 She only owns about 30 books right now, so I can also check and make sure she doesn't have any of the ones you have in mind, as she's been collecting up some Heyer and Agatha Christies to start her library right 😆 She also loves used books, so a mixed bag of gently-loved books is 100% fine. ❤ 2y
mabell @TheAromaofBooks Oh good! I thought it would be fun to send & receive - I love to dig through a box of books myself 😄 Some are books I just picked up because I liked the cover, some are duplicates, and some I‘m realistic I will never get to 😆 Absolutely start with Christie & Heyer!! If anything I send is a duplicate or one she isn‘t interested in, I thought you may like it or share with a LFL. 😊 I‘ll finish putting it together & send it off! 2y
