In Service of Death | J.D. KIRK
3 posts | 2 read
Some wars rage forever. It all started harmlessly enough. An egged window. A deflated car tyre. A few garden gnomes knocked over. But then, the silent calls began - late nights and early mornings, to landlines, and mobiles, and to numbers that no one should have access to.When photos of their sleeping grandchildren arrive in the mail, three former Royal Navy Marines living in different parts of the Highlands have no choice but to turn to the police for help. And that is when the murders start.Brought in to crack the case, Police Scotland's DCI Jack Logan finds himself locked in a battle of wits with a meticulously-organised killer. A killer who has been planning all this for a very long time...In Service of Death is the seventeenth book in the multi-million selling DCI Jack Logan Scottish crime fiction series by author, JD Kirk. Perfect for fans of Iain Rankin, Chris Brookmyre, and Stuart Macbride.

This is number 17 in the series. The 18th doesn‘t come out until October of 2023. This was wild! One of the team gets the crap kicked out of him and another is kidnapped and tortured. Someone they know is peripherally involved in the murder. There‘s still a bit of comedy in this one but it‘s one of the more serious books in the series. #SeriesLove2023 @Andrew65 @TheSpineView

TheSpineView I am looking forward to the next book! Now you can read the books about Hoon. Great job! 2y

deeannloso @Andrew65 I‘m still on the Agent Maggie O‘Dell series. I have to take that one slower because they‘re physical books. After that, I‘m not sure. 2y
Andrew65 @deeannloso Good luck with whichever books you choose as audiobooks. If you‘ve not read them I think you‘d enjoy either DCI Evan Warlow series by Rhys Dylan or the DI Ruth Hunter series by Simon McCleave. Both set in Wales. 2y
deeannloso @Andrew65 Thank you for the recommendations. 😊 2y

I don't think I can express how much I truly love this series. You get a wonderful story that draws you in with characters I can't help but be invested in and love. There's the mystery of it mixed with humor and a found family of oddballs who all work together to give me a read that never disappoints. 5⭐️
