This book examines the savannah cat, a cross between an African serval and a domestic cat. The African serval's habitat, body features, and diet are discussed. Also mentioned are the common house cats used to breed savannah cats. These include Bengal cats, Oriental shorthairs, ocicats, and Egyptian maus. The savannah cat's history and reproduction are discussed as well as this hybrid's coat characteristics and color. Readers will explore the savannah cat's size, behavior, and character. Finally, readers will learn a few tips for caring for this rare and beautiful hybrid. Full-color photos accompany engaging, easy-to-read text. Extras include an index and a glossary. Checkerboard Library is an imprint of ABDO Publishing Company.

Tonight for our #fridaynightshare I am reading Savannah Cats. It‘s is my husband‘s book. He has long been fascinated by all cats & became intrigued with Savanna cats. #midwintersolace #naturalitsy #week7 #nonfiction #animal

TheBookHippie We had one of those at our tiny city zoo one town over and we loved it, it recently died and we were so sad. I think it was over 20 years old. 11mo
kspenmoll @TheBookHippie I have never seen a living Savannah cat. How sad he died. (edited) 11mo
