Graphic novel of an adopted Korean girl that grew up in a small town in Maryland. Sarah, was adopted as an infant.. she knew nothing of her birth parents or her Korean culture. She attended schools where everyone else was white, and ridiculed her for being different. As she got older and started facing more racist & aggressive encounters- there was nowhere to turn to as even the adults in her world were just as ignorant as her bullies.

This was such an important graphic novel. It not only shows how difficult it is to be finding yourself in middle school, but added identity and racial issues on top of it. I hated to see that such young kids were using such horrible racial slurs. It definitely tells a lot about how hatred is taught.

@Eggs Thank you for the tag :) #WounderousWednesday

❄ My daddy and I would go on fishing trips with his friends to Mexico. My favorite times!

❄ During my childhood I didn't have many “mother-daughter times“ since I was a daddy's girl. But since he has passed, my mom and I have spent a lot more time together (mostly with our obsession of 20/20, Dateline, and Spanish Novelas).

❄ Remember me for the way I treated you. 💖

DocBrown I love this! 3mo
