I've both read the book and climbed Kilimanjaro with the author. It's a very helpful read, and if you only read one book before going to Tanzania with the intent of climbing the mountain or going on a safari, this should be it. Very comprehensive with everything you need to do to prepare and pack. Additionally, it's the only guidebook written to an actual Tanzanian mountain guide rather than a westerner who doesn't even live there...
