First Light | Liz Kerin
1 post | 1 read | 1 to read
First Light, the riveting sequel to Liz Kerins Night's Edge, is about seizing a brighter future by confronting the shadows of our past. I came all this way to watch you burn. It's been nine months since the catastrophe in Tucson sent Mia fleeing from her home. But shes not running away from the darknessshes running toward it, obsessively pursuing the man who gave her mother a thirst for blood and destroyed their lives. But when Mia finds the monsters shes been hunting and infiltrates a secret network of fugitives, she discovers she might have been their prey all along. To escape their clutches, shell have to reckon with her mothers harrowing past and confront a painful truth: that they might be more alike than she ever imagined. A morally gray and timely story that is bursting with Sookie Stackhouse vibes but will also appeal to fans of Catriona Ward and Zoje Stage. Booklist on Night's Edge

•I‘m not sure what it was but this didn‘t grab me like the first book did. Who knows maybe my energy was just wrong for this in the moment. I can say that it really didn‘t need a sequel, and perhaps I was disappointed in the direction it took with it.
•The author decided to narrate this second book and I would‘ve preferred that she kept the same narrator as the first book but she really wasn‘t bad at all.
