3.5 ⭐️ This one didn‘t deliver for me as much as Only Love Can Hurt Like This did, but I still enjoyed it.

What didn‘t work for me was all the pining that Liv did for Finn, it just became boring after a while.

Will continue to read Toon‘s novels and hopefully I‘ll enjoy it more next time.

This started a bit slow for me (which after a some thought it‘s not really a bad thing), but I enjoyed Toon‘s release last year so I am expecting the same result with this.

Soft pick because despite all the things going against it (too young main characters, manipulative ending, etc), it wasn't without its charms. I gotta stop buying these books, but I keep hoping for the heart-wringing angst. I didn't want to hurl this across the room, so I guess that's something.

Sometimes it just really feels good to sit down and read someone‘s life from 21 through the next 20+ years. That‘s what we get to do here with Liv. Real life interrupts what she imagined her dream would be, but real life can still be good.

When Liv (a bartender) and Finn (a singer/songwriter) meet in a Cornish coastline bar, there‘s instant attraction. Following a tragedy, they are pulled apart by distance (he lives in LA, she won‘t leave her special needs brother), but Finn promises to come back each summer (there are 6 of them) if they are each unentangled. As Liv despairs of a full life together, they both reluctantly move forward with other people and are happy. However, the ⬇️

robinb seventh summer changes everything, and they must question again if they‘re where they want to be. I enjoyed this but found it frustrating as well. I felt that if they had a forever kind of love that they would have worked harder to make it work. I will say that I felt the author did a great job of aging them (maturity-wise) from their mid-20s to mid-30s. There are laughs and definitely tears and a wonderful ⬇️ 7mo
robinb ending on this one. So overall, the moments of frustration were far outweighed by a great read. 4.25/5⭐️ 7mo
