1 post | 1 read
Sacagawea was a Shoshone teenager who, with her young son and husband, accompanied Lewis and Clark on their famous journey of exploration. This 128-page biography details her contributions to the expedition which ventured westward across the United States.

Pickpick

Legend has it that a young Shoshone woman, baby on her back, guided Meriwether Lewis & William Clark on their expedition across the western United States to the Pacific Ocean in 1804. Who was Sacagawea? How accurate are the stories about the expedition? What happened to her afterwards?

This book tries to bring together all the known information & the author does their best with what's available - the issue is that factual information is scant.

OutsmartYourShelf We're not even sure whether Sacagawea died young or lived to an old age, as her husband, Charbonneau, had two Shoshone wives & very often neither were referred to by name just as his wife. It is an interesting read, if a little disjointed in places, but I finished it with the disappointing realisation that the real Sacagawea is still unknown & probably always will be. 3.5🌟
