Just finished this book. It was my pick for this month's #BackListReadathon. One more off my floor, lol. It gave me one bingo spot #ISpyBingoApril and another for #ReadAway2024. This story happens in 1962 and is very riveting. You get to love the characters who try to move forward with tragedy that happens to them. @Clwojick @TheAromaofBooks @TheSpineView @Andrew65 @DieAReader @GHABI4ROSES

A worthy read for Van Halen fans.

And a funny little cosmic book/life story: I saw VH in March 1984. The following month I met and started going out with my boyfriend and we realized we both saw VH the same night. As of yesterday, we're together 40 years! Just strange that I decided to read this book now 💫

I loved this audiobook 💙💙
I finished this early for our #LittensLoveRomance buddy read so I‘m not giving anything away. It was my favorite read/listen of last week. Such a great cast of characters.

Abigail‘s dark cloud is a constant companion - it darkens her soul and the atmosphere surrounding her. Can she find a way to navigate life and find joy and color despite the grey blob?? Excellent story about a child‘s depression/melancholy 🌸🌼

7th book read from Women‘s Prize for fiction Long List
Unpopular opinion but this time, I really liked this novel. In a peculiar, unique sarcastic tone, the author narrate different topics: (social, political, cultural, etc) through this man who visited his country after 26 years of exile.I think it was so creative. Character has a fragmented thinking process, thinking about what he is thinking/observing/doing. ⬇️

Gissy (Cont.) it was funny but in a surrealistic/existencial narrative. I know it is not one of the favorites novel in this list but I enjoyed it because it was different. 4⭐️ 1d

BarbaraBB Awesome that you liked it! I couldn‘t get through it. 1d
Gissy @BarbaraBB It is different and mine is an unpopular opinion. I don‘t think this novel will be in the short list.

The experience in reading these novels from the long list have been so interesting, trying to see why the judges selected them😃

I watched a couple of videos about long list predictions and various interesting novels were mentioned that were not selected. I wish I could read them later. But too many books, too little time

6th book read from the Women‘s Prize for fiction-long list
😬Sorry this one didn‘t work for me. I‘m not a fan of novels about sport even though the story has other topics. I wasn‘t interested in the story and I couldn‘t believe so decision made. 2.5/3⭐️

5th book read from Women‘s Prize fiction long list. Mixed feelings, again🤷🏽‍♀️Maybe my expectations have been too high because they are books nominated for a prize. A HF based on true events and also based on previous
short stories. Maybe that it‘s why I felt disconnected in some parts.
The narrator in this story is working in a new project at her job, a nursing home in Korea. She will help the residents to write their own obituary⬇️

Gissy (Cont.)The narrator ask the persons to use 3 words in their obituary that describe themselves. Until she knew Ms Mook who will use 8 words, representing stages of her life. Story is about this woman, about the difficulties she lived in Korea at that time and her current life. A sad story. But as I said some parts were like disconnected to me or not well integrated. Maybe I had another idea of what the novel was about 3.75⭐️ 1d
