I am not sure if this book just didn't work as an audiobook, or if it was the writing. The back and forth between two timeliness was a bit difficult to follow on the audio at times, which took me out of the story.

There are some great suspenseful moments and lots of gothic atmosphere, but I just never connected with the characters.
