Pickpick

This is a well-written yet comparatively brief run through the rise & fall (& rise & fall again) of Sir Winston Churchill. Today a more controversial figure, the book doesn't shy away from noting Churchill's mistakes alongside his victories. I thought that the photographs were very interesting - I always find it makes what you are reading more real when you can see the people & places talked about.

OutsmartYourShelf If I had a criticism, it would be that in the version I read, although it gave the name & edition of the newspaper at the end of each quotation, it wasn't always clear from the start when you were reading excerpts of news articles. This made it initially disconcerting when the tense suddenly changed or the writing seemed different from the previous section. 4w
OutsmartYourShelf Overall though, it was an informative read & I would recommend this book to anyone interested in the history of British politics &/or British wartime leaders. 4🌟

My thanks to #NetGalley & publishers, Collins Reference /Times Books, for the opportunity to read an ARC.
