pickOliver Saks meets The Twilight Zone. I loved this twisty, turny, psychological, philosophical novel. An extraordinary patient comes in to a psychiatrist‘s office, and he is not sure if what‘s she‘s seeing is real. It reminded me of one of my favorite books ever, Into the Silent Lands by Paul Broks.
pickI really enjoyed this twisty novel that plays with genres and keeps you guessing. I thought the decision to write it as a mix of a doctor‘s notes and the main characters letters was unique and fit well.
pickEither Jane is suffering some sort of psychosis or she is occasionally hopping, or rather sensing, alternate universe versions of her life. Told entirely by her psychiatrist's case notes and her own letters to her infant son. Weird and very interesting.
pickWhat a page turner… you never really know what‘s going on and it just makes you want to keep reading. I think it broke my brain in a few places - but in a good way!

pickAnother recent read that I loved. I was unsure where this book was going, and I felt so many different emotions for Jane while reading this, but the two storylines weave together to create a psychological character study that will leave you unsettled, yet satisfied.

This is everything I had wished that awful Alex Michaelides was. Jane is having a breakdown and her psychiatrist is lost on what is going on or how to treat her and the mystery keeps growing. The writing is spot on, I loved seeing everything from his notes and her journal. I don't want to spoil anything so if you had read and want to discuss spoilers below.
pickAlternating in voice between her treating psychiatrist and Jane herself, we hear Jane‘s usual story. It gradually comes together at the end in a way I found incredibly satisfying. While a very different book, I can tell this is from the same brain that wrote The Age of Miracles, which I also loved (though it‘s very different than this). I can‘t recommend this one enough!
