so-so
This was the last book I finished in 2024 and it was just okay.
I really wanted this to be a delightful winter themed cozy fantasy. I loved the idea of a traveling tea house set up at Winterfrost Market for midwinter celebrations, interrupted by a quest to find her mother with a fae tracker by her side. Alas, the premise was interesting but lacked the descriptive world building needed to really bring this to life. ⬇️
MeganAnn 1/2: If the author had effectively described both the characters and the world they were moving through I think this could have been really magical. But I never was able to get a clear picture of what the main characters looked like and the wonders of the world around them. It‘s almost as if the author herself perhaps didn‘t have a clear picture of those things and therefore couldn‘t bring them to life on the page. ⬇️ 1mo
MeganAnn 2/2: That being said, I was interested enough to want to keep reading and to find out what happened so I‘m giving it a so-so. If I‘m in the right mood I may read a second book if it‘s released to see if the author can capture some of the magic this world has the potential for. 1mo
