Soft pick and ALL the trigger warnings for abusive relationship themes. Glad I read it, but it‘s a tough one to recommend, honestly.

A good debut novel focusing on a woman who feels lost and finds herself in a toxic relationship where she can‘t help but romanticize the man she is with. I found the writing similar to Dolly Alderton and the story one that many will relate to at some point in their lives.
⭐️⭐️⭐️
A soft pick. I understood the point of this novel, but it didn‘t stir any emotion within me. The antagonist‘s behavior was plainly malevolent and lacked the redeeming qualities needed to spark intrigue. I felt that there needed to be more passionate highs to balance the lows and fully bring the story to life.
💯 trigger warnings an abusive relationship in this one! I wish the author had gone into more depth about the Enola‘s family and wrote less tedium about her romantic relationship.
A mysterious writer joins a critiquing group. He starts a relationship with Enola, but her friends only see trouble. As she gets deeper in the fights and gaslighting start, but she‘s still so attracted. Can she break free while dealing with deep-seated family problems?
If the Cool Girl Monologue in Gone Girl hit a nerve you need to be reading What It‘s Like in Words 💕
