Five Have Plenty of Fun
Five Have Plenty of Fun | Enid Blyton
6 posts | 12 read | 2 to read
George is not pleased when Berta, a spoilt American girl, turns up at Kirrin Cottage in the middle of the night dressed in disguise! But George hasn't got time to be jealous. Berta is in hiding from kidnappers, and she needs help. Enid Blyton's The Famous Five are the only ones who can protect her! This edition features a new cover and revised text to bring the dialogue up to date for a whole new generation of readers.

Not far from a full house on this one! Disappointed that there was no caves or loot, but there was a kidnapping, which I think may be the second or third so far. I enjoyed this one though!

Also, Enid Blyton has a bit of a thing for American accents...every time there‘s an American person in her books, they proclaim everything “wunnerful” and everyone takes the piss and tries to correct them.

It‘s obvious that these illustrations are from the 1970‘s - look at Anne‘s blouse! She could be an extra in one of the Austin Powers movies! Bonus points on Famous Five Bingo - Timmy wolfs down an ice cream in one lick and everyone exclaims that it‘s wasted on him 🐶 🍦

A bit of bath time reading before I have to go out. I‘d much rather stay here though! 🛁 🧼 🛀 🧽 💣 💐 📖 📚

rockpools Have I mentioned how much I‘m loving seeing these pop up? So many of the earliest ‘books I owned/bought‘ amongst this lot - including this one! 5y
Connster @RachelO I‘m glad you‘re enjoying seeing them! I‘m enjoying reading them too! Very nostalgic! 5y
