According to Wikipedia, T. C. Boyle has published 16 novels. I sat at his table once during a publishing event where he was the guest speaker. This is the first time I've ever read anything he's written. #newtoyouauthor #booked2019 #mmdchallenge

Suet624 Are you liking it? 6y
valeriegeary @Suet624 I can't tell. 🤣 None of the characters are very sympathetic, they're all kind of terrible, unlucky people and it's just a series of miscommunications and bad decisions leading to one awful reckoning. So..... 🤷 It's interesting anyway. 6y
Suet624 The Feb 11th New Yorker has one of his stories in it. I‘ll check it out to see if I like his style. 6y

One of my absolute favorites. The imagery and emotion evoked is phenomenal. Love the characters and the plot (which revolves around poverty, illegal immigration, etc).

Great piece by TC Boyle in The New Yorker. I found this on Facebook, I don‘t know how to find a web address to cut/paste on my phone.

I can't think of any Mexican writers immediately but this book humanised the Mexican immigrants plight.

rockpools That's the one! I was wracking my brains trying to remember the title or author of this of earlier. Have you read any of his others? 8y
andrew61 No but i picked it up after hearing a very good short story on the new yorker podcast- his other books look intriguing, and there is a radio 4 bookclub programme where he discusses this book that is available on their website. 8y
MrsMalaprop I read this book years ago. It was excellent 👍. 8y
