I picked up Long Man when I was in TN on my Southern Circuit tour. I wanted a book out of the south, by a Southern writer. I liked this book a lot. The prose is about landscape, community, and social economics. It‘s slow moving, but the storytelling is captivating. The novel grapples with tough issues about Depression Era Tennessee, but really speaks across the decades about what landscape means to family in an increasingly technological world.
