With a family of readers and hand-me-downs, ownership of childhood books is a hotly contested issue among my siblings. To keep the peace, my parents have held on to most of them. This one however, is a favorite and one I absconded with years ago and it's probably the #bookyouveownedthelongest. A wonderful collection of fairytales with the most lovely illustrations, I remember sitting in my room and reading this book again and again ❤ #riotgrams

#riotgram Day 11 is #favoritechildrensbook . I have a number, but I think these two top the list. Dean's Book of Fairy Tales has some of the most beautiful illustrations I've ever seen. When I was little, I had long, dark hair, and I daydreamed about growing into the girl in the Little Match Girl illustration here. I pictured my brother, who had red hair, as this boy speaking to Puss in Boots. I also loved the whimsy of The Wednesday Witch.
