Subaru Natsuki was just trying to get to the convenience store but wound up summoned to another world. He encounters the usual things--life-threatening situations, silver haired beauties, cat fairies--you know, normal stuff. All that would be bad enough, but he's also gained the most inconvenient magical ability of all--time travel, but he's got to die to use it. How do you repay someone who saved your life when all you can do is die?

I bailed. I tried. Maybe it's a generational thing. But I'm glad it helped my son to get reading!

BiblioNyan Those light novels are just horrendously translated. There are good, gripping light novels out there, ones that feel like a normal book. But unfortunately Re:Zero is not one of them. ☹️ I finished vol 1 (GR group read) but had to DNF vol 2. 7y

My son (who is not an avid reader) asked if I would read this book. I have never read any Manga or light novels which I guess this is? But I promised him I would give it a shot. I want to encourage him to read more and this is what he likes. So here we go.

Very good. Not perfect, but good nonetheless. Premise is interesting. Characters are fun and curious. Looking forward for volume 2! 4/5.

I will be starting this light novel sometime today as it's the next choice for my Japanese Novel & Light Novel book club! I haven't seen the anime yet. All I know is that the MC mysteriously gets summoned to another world & gains the ability to time travel, but he has to die to use the ability. Such an odd & fascinating premise!!
